Labor Day Weekend

These guys came all the way to Globe to visit us... or to watch BYU play UofA? Either way, they came and it was fun

Especially because BYU won, if they didn't win, it would have been a really long awkward two hour drive back to Globe from Glendale.

After the game ritual "I touched a lot of them." -Travis Charles
He was a kid in a candy store for sure!

Also, we went with some Wildcat fans. It was questionable if they were gonna have a ride back to Globe for awhile, but since the Cougars pulled it off, they were welcome. We love the Hanson's.

I also ran into this sister of mine and her husband. Sure Jon, I guess you can get in on the picture. Ewww.
It was pretty neat to see my "ute fan" sister wear blue. Glothy would be proud sister.

The rest of the weekend, we mostly just chilled in the exciting town of Globe. There is so much to do here, it was a tough choice, but we settled on the game of Twister for entertainment.

And entertaining it was.

You can't come here without getting a blizzard at the ole DQ. We know how to treat guests.

Also, the Dyers came all the way from San Diego to see us... or to visit Will's mission sites? Either way, we loved seeing them. We miss our Kansas City family!
Another must do Globe attractions, Round Mountain hike. We conquered it with 6 kids!
Labor day was great, we aren't used to people coming to us and we really liked it. Hopefully I upsold Globe on this post and it will happen more often!

Superstars

My kids made the front page of one of Globe's newspapers. They are sort of a big deal. Lots of exciting things happen here :)

Tonto

Instead of doing yardwork, we decided to explore our desert. We went to the Tonto National monument 100 year celebration today with our friends. We hiked up the cave dwellings, learned about prickly pears and of course ate some cupcakes. It may have been a random event, but when in Rome I guess?

I want to be a Coldplay groupie

I do. They are amazing. We went to their concert 8 years ago. They were finally coming back to the US this year with a tour, and so of course we wanted to go. I haven't love loved any of their albums like I did in the past, so I wasn't as pumped to go like I was 8 years ago, but after seeing them again in concert, I will never doubt again! It was glorious. Chris Martin was amazing live! I can't emphasize how great it was! Since that night, Travis and I have been stocking the band on Instagram, watching their tour, remembering when they did the thing we were watching at our own concert. I sound like a psycho.

Travis was the only dude in our group. Andrea and Mindy left their husbands at home, and so we were sisterwives. The concert was on a Tuesday night, in Glendale, which is about a 2 hour night, so needless to say, it was a late night! But so worth the no sleep! I had a Coldplay hangover the next day. I played their songs and just thought about how great the night was as my kids were whining, crying and making me do things for them all day long. I wasn't even bothered!

The moral of this post is: Always go to a Coldplay concert, no matter how poor you are or how far away you live, or the fact that you have to "work" the next day. Always go!

Big Girl Bed

Isla finally figured out that nothing can contain her. She started climbing out of her crib when we got back from Utah. One night, she climbed out at about 2 in the morning, and was just standing over me, watching me while I slept. Creepy. We decided it was time for her to get a big girl bed.
She did great the first week, but found her new freedom, and its sort of been a nightmare since!!! I miss just plopping her in her crib and saying goodnight! She definitely knows what she wants!

Friends with a Boat

We live about 45 minutes away from the biggest lake in Arizona. We have joked a lot about making friends with people who have a boat. It finally happened. Enter the Chow family. For the record, we were friends with them long before they owned a boat, we aren't total users! They invited us on the lake for the day, and it was super fun!!!

Avery tried wake surfing, and she got up on her own on her first try. Also, these girls were obsessed with the tube, that is, until the finally got manhandled by a wave. They weren't too excited about it. Oh, and Brooklyn wouldn't be caught dead on that tube. She is one safe girl!
Boating is the best, especially if you don't own it yourself, you just mooch on your friend's boat!
Thanks Chows!!!
