B-BALL

Another sport was attempted by one Avery Charles

We tried basketball

She loved the practices, but didn't really like the games.

I think the games were a little too overwhelming.  She would get rushed during a game and wouldn't be sure if she was on defense or offense, so she would get flustered and take herself out. No joke. We would look up and she would just be sitting on the bench and the coach would have to call a time out and sub in a new player.

She loved to practice shooting, and really the only way she could make a basket was to shoot granny style. The hoops were pretty tall for this skinny little 5 year old.

She definitely took to basketball more than soccer. We will have to try it again next year, she will be the oldest instead of the youngest and will definitely be a bawler!

Notice how focused she is on her team and game

This was after she took herself out in a game and I had to go and calm her down and explain the rules

Her team.
And seriously, can we not be the gray team anymore. I Avery wants a fun color for once!

Ugly Sweater Party

January and February are always a tough time of year for me. So we decided to have fun. We threw an "ugly Valentine's Day sweater" party.
The only rule was that you had to wear an ugly Valentine's day sweater. Other than that, it was free game.
This was the outcome:
The Hanson's

 The Merideth's

The Hudson's

The Shellenberger's

The Volker's

The Burk's

The Stoddard's (Brad was the winner, Travis kept commenting about Brad's Pubic hair on his chest... that's gonna make us friends Trav!)

The Jarvey's

And us (plus one)

This party was good for us for a couple reasons:
1) Something fun and different to do in Globe
2) so we could get to know our new friends better
3) Travis has been wanting to wear his favorite sweater somewhere, so this was the ticket

We chatted and ate lots of food. Then we played ridiculous games such as "the newlywed game" and "reverse charades." I can't even imagine what our party would have been like if we drank alcohol, because a lot of craziness was seen during the night.

I guess I can't really talk about it though, because I lied about only having one rule, the other rule was, what happens at the party stays at the party. Ha ha!

I heart you day

This is a really rough time of year for Travis. He just had Christmas, then he has my birthday, then Valentine's day, then a couple weeks later is our anniversary. There is no let up of showing your wife how much you love her. So we have sort of decided to shift our focus on our little girls on Valentine's day.

I stole this idea from Brandi. She and her husband Jim do a restaurant in their home for their kids every Valentine's day. She makes a menu with different options and everything. I decided that this would be fun, so I straight up stole your idea Brandi! Thanks because it was a really fun thing to do and a tradition we will be starting.
This was what was on our menu:

Appetizer:
1. Nachos
2. Mandrine oranges
3. Chicken wings

Entree:
1. Fish
2. Steak
3. Heart shaped hot dogs

Side:
1. Mac and Cheese
2. Rice
3. Quinoa (we call it fung fung)

Veggie:
1. Broccoli
2. Green beans
3. Side salad

Dessert:
1. Chocolate covered scone
2. Donut
3. Cookie

Avery chose mandrine oranges, fish, mac n cheese, broccoli and the chocolate covered scone. I was surprised, I totally thought she would go for the steak!

Brooklyn chose mandrine oranges, fish, rice, green beans and the donut.

Travis was their waiter and I was the cook. They thought it was the funniest thing!

We had candles, decorations, flowers and even background music. (they didn't even leave us a tip, cheapskates!)

When we brought them their "bill" it was a note leading them on a treasure hunt, treasure meaning a butt load of Valentine's day candy!

It was really fun and hopefully our girls know how much we love them.

Spoiled little stinks!
They are pretty special!

Oh and this might be a little graphic so here is your warning

This is what Trav and I did after they went to bed

Oh yeah, bam chicka bam bam

(we are so lame)

Oh and you are probably wondering why he is wearing a head lamp. Our light on our patio is pretty weak, so he needed extra light to grill. This is important.

Superbowl party

I wish I could write about how amazing this game was. How intense and nail biting it was. I wish I could tell you that this was the perfect ending to the 2013 NFL season. But it WASN'T!!!! It was the worst game ever!!! I thought Peyton was going to hand it to them. He usually has the eye of the Tiger. But from the first botched snap of the game to the 4-5 turnovers by the Broncos, the Sea Hawks pulverized them!

Seriously, why couldn't the game just be good?

We didn't let this disgusting game keep us down. We totally ate our stress/boredom away. Just look.

We also had pizza, candy, pop, wings and chips and bean dip. It totally made up for the lame lame lameness.

Our guests weren't lame either (did you think we made all that food for ourselves)? The Bruce's had an invitation,  but the Jolley's invited themselves up to watch (ha). . It was so much fun!

The majority of the crowd was rooting for the Broncos, in fact, Travis was the only Seahawks supporter. Travis was also in charge of the decorating.

The only rule for the party was that you had to come dressed up in the team colors you were rooting for

For some reason, the Jolley's came in Dolphin's attire. What?
And Jack and Tice took over the decorating

It was a dark blue/orange and sea green/blue mess in my house!

I was proud of this shirt pre game.

Oh well, I still love Peyton!

Maybe the Chiefs will be contenders next year?

I really hate seeing the NFL end for the year. I love football so much! Until next year!
