Sin City with Kids

When Travis was in medical school, I always thought that it would be so cool to go with him to exotic places where they have medical conferences. 

We went to Vegas. 

If you think about it, Vegas is probably as exotic as you can get. 

Oh and also, we brought our kids. 

Fun times! 

We actually planned on meeting up with the Washburn's. They lived across the street from us in Kansas City. Jesse and Travis did the conference together during the day, while Kim and I entertained 7 girls ages 8 and under. We went out in public a couple of times, and I seriously think we could have walked around with a bowl and made some serious cash. We got more stares than the statue guy! We had a great time catching up with our old friends.

The Grand

I have lived within 10 hours of the Grand Canyon for the majority of my life and I have never been. 

Its one of the 7 wonders of the world and I have never been. 

People (mostly Asians) come from across the world to see it, and I have never been. 

This is until now. 

We went with the Hanson's.

 We didn't go to see it, we went to hike it. 

And hiking is what we got. 

We hiked about 16 miles and it took us about 9 hours.

 I think next time Travis will choose to be one of those tourists who mostly venture around the rim. 

It was hard, but we had a blast!

Travis big day

It's not fair that you have to adult on your birthday. Travis woke up in the dark like he usually does, skirted off to work like he usually does and came home tired like normal. But its still a birthday and ya still have to celebrate. So we did.

Happy 38th birthday Trav! Sorry we only had a '6' candle. We love you and appreciate your hard work. 

"ward" campout

This was our plan B instead of going to the ward camp out tonight.

Sometimes being a wife of a doctor blows. He was on call and didn't get home till 8pm. I had packed everything for camping on top of that. Waaaaa! 

We still had a good time though. We invited a neighbor over for S'mores.

Me? Well I decided I should probably sleep inside with Isla. I sacrifice sometimes. 

The next morning we woke up and drove out to the site and had breakfast with the rest of the ward.

They had a good time after all.
